Editorial Manifesto

Design manifesto / Editorial design
My manifesto delves into the notion of challenging conventional design norms. The manifesto advocates prioritising passion over strict adherence to design principles, urging designers to embark on projects with a genuine love for their craft before succumbing to commercial demands. In crafting the masthead and double-page spread, I opted for a simple yet impactful colour palette, predominantly featuring the colour red. This deliberate choice aims to evoke sentiments of passion. Throughout the design, subtle grids and imagery associated with design principles are integrated, challenging traditional rules and conventions. A succinct ‘summary’ of the manifesto is strategically presented in bold text, forming a secondary narrative, further highlighting the project’s overarching theme
The brief requires you to conceptualise your own manifesto in one of the following fields: Pharmaceuticals, Agriculture, Tourism, Sport, Fashion or Design and Art. The final deliverable is a 385+ word manifesto as well as a byline and headline, Masthead and cover and finally a double page spread that explores the communicative interplay between image and type
